Eli Update

Many people have called to check on my little man so I thought I would just post an update. He isn't completely well yet but is doing much better! He saw the pediatrician yesterday and his breathing wasn't quite where it should be so she put him back on his breathing treatments for a couple more days. He has been running around playing as normal so he seems to be feeling fine. Please continue to keep him in your prayers!

First Words

Luke has been saying ma-ma for a few weeks now. Well...at least I think he's saying ma-ma. It comes out more like "Ewwwwwwwma."
Last night, he started saying "da-da!" Jay didn't hear it at first but then he kept saying it over and over again! Da-da was so happy!

My Longest 2 Days Ever = My Longest Blog Post Ever (I think)

I want to thank everyone who has been praying for Eli! He is doing MUCH better. It has been a crazy crazy couple of days!

We started our Tuesday morning off at our pediatrician's office. No one was sick...Eli just needed to get his immunizations. He got a chicken pox and a Hep A Vaccine. He did great for his shots! I was proud of how brave he was so I took him to Bruster's for Ice Cream afterwards. He was so excited to get purple dinosaur ice cream. Who knew that we would start our day out with this purple dinosaur (ice cream) in the morning

and end our day with this purple dinosaur (breathing treatment face mask) in the evening.


Eli did fine throughout the day on Tuesday. He went down for an afternoon nap as usual. When he woke up, he had a small fever of 99.8 and was super clingy and whiny. I figured the fever was a side effect from the shots. And the clingy and whiny was from the fever. As I was holding him, I noticed him breathing a little heavy. I didn't think much about it at first but then he starting wheezing a bit. I debated whether to call the pediatrician's office since it was after hours and I would have to end up getting a nurse to call me back but I went ahead. I am SOOOOOO glad I did! The nurse called back and told me to take him to the Children's after hours clinic. Jay and I thought it would be best for one of us to stay at home with Sam and Luke and the other one take Eli. So Eli and I headed to the after hours and on the way there, his wheezing got heavier. When we got there, I could really tell he was struggling to breathe. They took us right back to see the doctor. If you have ever been to the after hours clinic, you know this is not normal. It's like you wait for hours there just to see the doctor for a few minutes. They gave Eli a breathing treatment and did X-Rays. I was so so proud of him and how brave he was! He was still wheezing so the doctor came in and told me that they were going to admit him into Children's. WHAT?!!! I almost didn't even call the nurse and now he is being admitted to the hospital. Not only that but they needed to transport him by ambulance there. My heart hit the floor! I think I was the most nervous I had ever been. I knew he was having a hard time breathing and I just wanted to breathe for him. He fell asleep so when the ambulance got there, they let me hold him and strapped us both on the gurney. It was my first time ever riding in an ambulance and I hope it was my last!
When we got to Children's, they didn't have a room for us so they put us in an observation room in the ER. My mom came and stayed with us through the night. I think I got about 30 minutes of sleep that night. He was hooked up to machines that monitored his breathing and pulse rate. If it went down below a certain level, it was beep really loud. It went down SEVERAL times throughout the night. They also were giving him breathing treatments every 2 hours.
The doctor came in to see us Wednesday morning and told us that we would be staying another night in the hospital. They wanted to give Eli more treatments and monitor his breathing a while longer. It was really hard being there. He cried because he wanted to go home. He kept saying "I miss my Sam!"
My mom stayed at home with Sam and Luke last night while Jay came and spent the night at the hospital with Eli and me. Eli was going a little stir crazy staying in our room so we were able to unhook his machines for a little while and take him for a wagon ride inside the hospital.


He had a much better night than the night before sleepwise. His machines only beeped a couple of times and they spread his breathing treatments out to every 4 hours instead of every 2. They diagnosed him with Right Upper Lobe Pneumonia. They weren't sure if he had an asthma attack in there somewhere too. I, personally, feel that it may have something to do with his immunizations although the 4 doctors that we saw at the hospital told me otherwise. They told me it was just a coincidence. I don't know if it was coincidence, I just know that I will now do my research before allowing anything to be given to my kids. I'm not at all saying that I won't ever let my kids have immunizations again but I am saying that I will research them first and ask MANY questions beforehand.

I couldn't have been more proud of my sweet Eli for what a big boy he has been. He has been through so much over the past 2 days and has just been incredible through it all!

Thank you to my sister for bringing all of these toys for Eli to play with while he was in the hospital. Such an "aunt" thing to do!!


Eli got sent home with medicines and breathing treatments but we are HOME...PRAISE THE LORD!

25 Random Things About Me

I've been tagged by a few friends on Facebook to come up with 25 Random things about me. I thought I would just post it here. So....here goes...

1. I stress out about small things (such as thinking of 25 Random things about me!)
2. I have a brother that I met for the first time 3 years ago.
3. Even though I consider myself girly, I don't like to wear skirts or dresses.
4. Almost every time I hear the star spangled banner, my eyes fill up with tears.
5. I have an obsession with monogramming.
6. I'm not one of those people who can run in Wal-Mart without a shower or putting makeup on. Maybe I'm just vain but if I know that I will be getting out of my car somewhere or seeing someone I know, I must have on makeup.
7. When I first met Jay, I thought he was arrogant.
8. On my first date with Jay, I realized that he was THE ONE.
9. Jay and I only dated 2 months before we were engaged. We were only engaged 8 months before we were married.
10. In my late teens and early 20's I wanted to move anywhere other than Alabama.
11. I don't eat any seafood.
12. I worked for a local television station and for 3 years in a row, I went to Los Angeles for a Fall Launch party and got a chance to meet these people...

13. I've always known that I wanted to be a mommy.
14. I used to sing in the choir at school and was in small ensembles but now I realize that I can't carry a tune in a bucket!

21. I have always been a bit neat-freakish but after having kids, I've mellowed out a bunch.
22. I love my day planner. I must have it to survive!
